William Oley Gabrielson was
born in
Bergen, Norway, December 13, 1867. He was the son of Gabriel
Erickson and Olene (Loveland) Erickson. He had one sister, Karen.
William came to America in
1888. It was the custom in Norway when a son left home he would
take his father's first name and add "son" thus the name Gabrielson.

According to records from
Lucille Sjurson Swanson, this is William's handwriting in Norwegian.
It appears to be him practicing his penmanship. It says "Man must
pound while the iron is warm." It appears that he had very nice
handwriting! Click on the picture for a larger view. |
